Warter C. E. Primary School

"He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”Psalm 40:2. At Warter C.E. Primary School we are working together to provide a solid foundation to learn, grow and achieve through our Christian values of hope, perseverance, friendship and respect.

Collective Worship at Warter

Collective Worship is a valued and inclusive part of daily life at our school. It brings our whole community together in a way that is engaging, meaningful, and accessible to all. Our worship is invitational—children are always invited, but never compelled, to pray or take part in ways that reflect their own beliefs.

It is carefully planned to be suitable for those of all faiths and none, encouraging respect, reflection and a shared sense of community. Through worship, we explore the importance of faith, reflect on the world around us, and celebrate the values that guide us—both as a church school and as citizens of modern Britain. Our worship supports children's personal development and encourages reflection on British Values, Protected Characteristics, religious festivals, and current global and local events.

Our Collective Worship Programme

Mondays: Worship is led by school staff and focuses on key values and themes;

Tuesdays: Church representatives, including our Foundation Governor, share Bible stories through interactive ‘Open the Book’ sessions;

Wednesdays: Dedicated time to singing and joyful expression;

Thursdays: Class-based worship using Picture News, helping children connect Christian values and prayer to real-world events;

Fridays: Celebration Worship! A time we come together to celebrate the week’s achievements.

Throughout the year, we also gather at St. James’s Church (known as The Yorkshire Wolds Heritage Centre) to mark special occasions like Harvest, Christmas, and Easter—precious moments that unite children, staff and families in a shared sense of belonging and faith.
