Chair of Governors Welcome

On behalf of the governing body I would like to welcome you to our school!

School governors are one of the country's largest voluntary groups and here at Warter, the Governing Body is made up of a group of individuals with a range of skills and backgrounds who are fully committed to providing the best education for our children. We work in partnership with the Head to develop the strategic vision and planning for the school and are accountable for the school’s overall performance. As a Foundation School (one of only 44 in the country!), we also have additional responsibilities which other Governing Bodies do not, such as being the employers of all our staff and being able to set our own admissions policy.

We are a Church of England School and fortunate to have the much appreciated support of the York Diocese both directly and through the contribution made by the Foundation Governors on our Governing Body.

As well as the Full Governing Body, we have four main subcommittees; Finance and Resources, Pupils and Standards, Personnel and Performance and Pay Review. It is through these committees that we challenge and support the work done by the Head and senior leadership team and so ensure that we continue to achieve the best outcomes for every child in our school.

Although we are a very committed group of individuals, we appreciate that we could not fulfil our role successfully without the continued support of our staff and our parents and carers. We thank you for your contribution to our success so far and look forward to working with you as we continue to build on these achievements.

As proud as we are of our outstanding status and of the glowing feedback we received at our last Ofsted inspection, we are very aware that the demands on schools in the current, ever-changing educational environment means there is no room for complacency. We are committed to working with staff, parents and carers and of course, our wonderful children, to ensure we remain the outstanding school we are.

As a Governing Body, we welcome any comments or feedback you would like to make. You can provide feedback via the Ofsted Parent View link, or by contacting any member of the Governing Body through the School office or by emailing governors@warterschool.eriding.net
